---------------- New this week! From Free-for-All. Post(s) o' the week: Sent: 7.04 pm - 9/15Sent: 10.22 pm - 9/14 My Navajo language teacher at the phoenix indian center asked us to find out (how) to say "i'm sorry" in navajo. my dad says there are no such words in navajo. does anybody have a different opinion? ************************************ in navajo there are expressions for "i'm sorry." i speak the language, but can't write it. ....." *********************************** In the Navajo language, there are no words equivalent to the words "I'm sorry". Through the influences of christianity and their concepts of repentance and forgiveness, there are manipulations of the Navajo language to convey the idea of "asking forgivness". For this reason, The Old People say, "Be careful what you say. What you speak will come to be." This is more pronounced when one says in prayer, "Sha ni'din aa", which means "Give it back to me".
