The Native Press is an independent news organization focused on providing a voice to indigenous peoples.

We strive to tell stories and provide a platform for Native peoples whose voices may be unheard.

We are a small  operation founded by Native journalists more than two decades ago. The website’s heyday was the early 2000s. You will find hand-curated stories and essays from our earliest years under the archives. The operation began to languish in recent times as the number of Native journalists in mainstream media began to dwindle.

But we’re happy to say that the website is back in 2021, with its original mission of “continuing the oral-storytelling tradition in the 21st Century.”
